Valea Skin
Independent Shopify development-store project, based on Dawn 16.0.0 with custom design and implementation by Jon Ho. Valea Skin is a fictional portfolio brand with concept product imagery. The screenshots document the actual development-store build and unpublished theme on 5–6 October 2026, with Storefront and Merchant Theme Editor views labeled separately. They do not establish current public visitor access. A public Demo is unavailable because strict read-only protection for Shopify-native commerce and account actions has not been verified; this Case does not complete that Demo rollout.
01
Understand
Give the fictional brand a clear shopping story.
A warm ivory and olive visual system connects editorial product imagery, everyday care routines and a readable product hierarchy. Homepage storytelling leads into product and collection surfaces implemented on Shopify's native Dawn foundation. The presentation describes a portfolio concept, not a real skincare client, manufactured range or commercial result.
02
Trust
Make the theme editable beyond a single mockup.
Liquid sections, blocks and metafield-driven content support merchant editing within Online Store 2.0. Saved Theme Editor evidence shows the hero and section controls alongside the actual theme preview. Storefront and Editor captures retain their distinct roles and historical dates; concept product imagery provides an editorial direction without implying verified ingredients, efficacy, certification or product photography.
03
Act
Review the implementation without offering an unverified store Demo.
This Case presents the saved homepage and merchant-editable structure without linking visitors to a private theme preview, Admin session or shopping action. Native cart, checkout, contact, newsletter and account capabilities remain a separate Shopify boundary. Development-store status and test payment mode do not make those capabilities read-only, so no public Demo action is offered here.
04 / Visual screens
a closer look.
A saved historical viewport of the real Shopify development-store build and unpublished theme. The visible cart state is historical evidence, not a new read-only interaction. The pink floating translation control is an unchanged browser capture artifact, not theme UI.
A saved merchant Editor capture with the draft theme and persisted editing controls. This is implementation evidence from the development store, not a visitor-facing editing feature or proof of current anonymous access.
05 / Build notes
behind
the pages.
- Built on Shopify Dawn 16.0.0 using Liquid and Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks. Custom design and implementation: Jon Ho. This is a Shopify-native theme, not a from-scratch commerce backend or a VPS-hosted shop.
- Saved development-store evidence documents product storytelling, collection browsing, a fictional concept catalog, metafields and merchant editing. These are historical implementation facts; current platform settings and catalog inventory were not re-queried for this Case preparation.
- Concept product imagery was generated for the fictional Valea Skin portfolio brand. Ingredient scenes are editorial illustrations, not formula, efficacy, organic, certification or real manufactured-product evidence.
- Native cart and test-checkout implementation have separate historical evidence; no order or payment was submitted in that saved evidence. Those capabilities are not described as read-only or exposed through a public Demo link.
- The Dawn foundation's Shopify theme-use conditions and attribution are retained. This Case does not offer a theme source ZIP, private repository, signed preview URL, Admin session or credentials.
- Case-only publication is a separate portfolio outcome. A strictly read-only public Shopify Demo remains blocked; this Case does not complete or waive that requirement.
Saved Storefront and Merchant Theme Editor evidence from a Shopify development store. A public Demo remains blocked under the current strict read-only requirements; this Case is available independently.
